Nationals vs. Angels prediction and odds for Wednesday, April 12 (Washington great underdog bet)

The Washington Nationals have got off to a 4-8 start to the season, which is unfortunately unsurprising for fans of the team.

With that being said, I bring good news. I think Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Angels is a great spot for them to pull off the upset.

Let's take a look at the odds and then I'll break down why I think the Nationals can get the job done.

MacKenzie Gore has been a bright spot for the Nats so far in this young season. He sports a 2-0 record and a 2.38 ERA through his first two starts, allowing only three earned runs in 11.1 innings pitched.

Now, he gets to face an Angels offense that is as average as they come, ranking 16th in OPS through the first 12 days of the season. Sure, they're averaging 5.64 runs per game, but I expect regression in that area based on their OPS numbers in the coming weeks.

Griffin Canning gets the start on the mound for the Angels tonight and I have no faith he can get the job done. He's coming off a season where he went 5-4 with a 5.60 ERA and a 1.484 WHIP.

If you're looking for an underdog to bet on tonight, I see none more enticing than the Washington Nationals.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
