NBA Best Bets Today – Wednesday, Dec. 6

  • Orlando Magic (+4) at Cleveland Cavaliers
  • San Antonio Spurs at Minnesota Timberwolves (-12)
  • Brooklyn Nets at Atlanta Hawks (Over 244)

Orlando Magic (+4) at Cleveland Cavaliers

The Magic are the best team in the NBA that nobody wants to admit actually has talent. Since November 15, Orlando owns the best record in the league (9-1), and they rank 3rd-best in Net Rating. The key to their success has been an unwavering commitment to getting stops, ranking 5th-best in defensive efficiency and 4th-best in rebound rate during that stretch. The Cavaliers are 7-3 in their last 10 games as well, but they lost last week to the hapless Trail Blazers and only narrowly defeated the Pistons – a team in the midst of the longest losing streak in their franchise’s history. The Magic have value here with the points.

San Antonio Spurs at Minnesota Timberwolves (-12)

Large spreads are rarely psychologically easy to bet in the NBA, but the Spurs make big lines more approachable for bettors. On the season, the Spurs are 2-7 in nine road contests and have been outscored by a league-worst 17.8 points per 100 possessions. The Timberwolves are 9-1 on their home floor this year and have outscored their opponents by 12.2 points per 100 possessions in such games. Anthony Edwards is officially listed as questionable for this evening’s action, but he participated in practice yesterday and appears to be trending in the right direction ahead of tip-off. Minnesota is a deserving home favorite in this spot.

Brooklyn Nets at Atlanta Hawks (Over 244)

NBA fans would be hard-pressed to find a team less committed than the Hawks when it comes to getting stops. Atlanta enters play on Wednesday ranked 26th in defensive efficiency and 3rd in pace, with the majority of their games looking more like track meets than basketball contests. The Nets have been a mediocre defensive team without Ben Simmons on the floor, ranking 11th in defensive efficiency. Both teams have multiple days of rest going into this matchup, which should aid perimeter shooting and allow for ample scoring in transition to hit the over at this market number.
