On Friday (when he last published picks), Kaylor highlighted 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey as one of his top picks in his NBA DFS player pool on both sites. The result: Maxey finished with 32 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals, returning 52.25 points on DraftKings and 53.1 points on FanDuel. Anybody who included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Top NBA DFS picks for Wednesday, January 24

For Wednesday, one of Kaylor's top NBA DFS picks is Rockets guard Fred VanVleet, who is listed at $7,400 on DraftKings and $8,400 on FanDuel. After seven years in Toronto, the former All-Star signed with Houston this offseason, and he's putting together a strong season for the upstart Rockets. VanVleet is averaging 17.3 points, a career-high 8.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 38.8% from the 3-point line.

He's piled up 42 points and 19 assists in his last two outings, and after missing Sunday's matchup with the Celtics because of lower back tightness, he should be well-rested for Wednesday's matchup with the Trail Blazers. Portland has been shredded by opposing point guards recently, giving up 33 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and five steals to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on Tuesday, which came one game after allowing 34 points and eight assists to D'Angelo Russell.

Another part of Kaylor's optimal NBA DFS strategy includes Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns ($8,100 on DraftKings and $8,600 on FanDuel). Towns set a franchise record on Monday night with 62 points and went 10-for-15 from the 3-point line in a Minnesota loss to Charlotte. With Anthony Edwards taking on the primary scoring role this season, Towns' overall usage rate and shot attempts are down from when he was last healthy in 2021-22.

However, he's shooting 51.5% from the floor and a career-best 44.7% from the 3-point line. Towns is averaging 22.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists this season, and you'll want to ride the hot hand in a matchup with a Wizards defense that ranks last in the NBA in points allowed per game (124.9) and 28th in defensive rating (121.0). See Kaylor's other NBA DFS picks right here.
