As the anticipation for the next NBA preseason prediction builds, this matchup serves as a compelling preview of the talent and competition we can expect in the 2023-24 NBA season. Be sure to follow our  NBA Picks all season long.

With the stage set, it's time to explore the best online betting sites in the U.S. and check out the best NBA bets for the Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves matchup.

Denver Nuggets vs. Chicago Bulls Prediction & Odds

The Denver Nuggets opened preseason play with a 115-107 victory over the Phoenix Suns as the Nuggets prepare to defend their NBA title. Denver's top guys played in the first preseason game, including NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic as well as All-NBA point guard Jamal Murray. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Aaron Gordon, two other starters from last year's title run, also took part in the first preseason game.

Given how the Nuggets seem willing to give their top guys some minutes, we're going with Nuggets -2.5 (-113) at FanDuel. In addition to its top players performing well, what also bodes well for Denver is how the back end of its rotation played against the Suns. Zeke Nnaji had 17 points, while Reggie Jackson added 14. Peyton Watson also added 14 points off the bench. All three of those players are expected to play a role on this year's Nuggets team.

Then there are the players attempting to carve out a place for themselves in the rotation. Denver rookie Julian Strawther put up 20 points in his NBA preseason debut and made 8 of 12 shots, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range. Given the depth Denver showed in the first matchup, we're going to back the Nuggets to cover against the Bulls.

Charlotte Hornets at Washington Wizards Prediction & Odds

When it comes to targeting player props in the preseason, the two things we want to consider are playing time and shot volume. In Charlotte's first preseason game this season against the Miami Heat, P.J. Washington fit both of these categories, so we will target a player prop for Washington.

We like P.J. Washington at least two 3-pointers (-115) at bet365. Washington played the most minutes of any Hornets player against the Heat, recording 26 minutes and had the second-most shot attempts with 12. He wasn't overly efficient, making just 4 of 12 shot attempts and was 1 of 6 from 3-point range. But seeing him get that many shots up and play the most minutes is a positive.

Washington is a career 36% 3-point shooter and made an average of two 3s a game last season in 27 minutes. Considering he nearly played that many minutes in the first preseason game, we like Washington to make two 3s since he's still playing to his rotation minutes despite it being the preseason.

Detroit Pistons vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Prediction & Odds

We're going to go with the same player prop market for the Detroit Pistons vs. Oklahoma City Thunder preseason game on Thursday. Oklahoma City guard Luguentz Dort will be the player we will back in this game.

We like Luguentz Dort at least two 3-pointers (-115) at bet365. Dort hit this prop in the first preseason game versus the San Antonio Spurs, making 2 of.4 attempts from 3-point range.

Dort has always been a reliable 3-point shooter throughout his career, averaging two 3s made per game. Considering his history from beyond the arc and the form he showed early on, we're confident in backing Dort to make at least two 3s in this preseason matchup against the Detroit Pistons.
