NC State heads to Blacksburg to face Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Wolfpack come into the game as one of the hottest teams going after winning 3 straight against Clemson, Miami and Wake Forest. They are heading into one of the toughest environments in football, but the Pack is the far better team. I think there is value on NC State as an underdog, and you might even play them to win the game.

The name of the game for the Wolfpack is defense. Theirs ranks 21st overall, and they are especially good up front. The Hokies have a good defense of their own, but the Tech offense should be expected to struggle all afternoon. The Hokies made a midseason QB change that gave them some life, but if we look at what they did against an elite defense, the results are not good. Let’s take Louisville, for example. Louisville held the Hokies to only 140 total yards. NC State is a very similar matchup, and I expect similar results. NC State got its starting QB back last week, which gives the offense a bit more juice, and I think this is a spot where the wrong team is favored. The Wolfpack are playing really strong football right now, and even in a tough environment, I like them in this game.
