Nebraska vs. Michigan: 10 things every fan needs to know about this rivalry

Nebraska and Michigan have played 11 games. They won the 1997 shared national championship. In Tom Osborne's final game as coach of the Huskers, Scott Frost quarterbacked a 42-17 shellacking of Tennessee. Nebraska jumped to the top spot in the Coaches Poll, while Michigan won AP title.

Nebraska and Michigan have played each other just 11 times in football since 1905. The first game was won by Michigan 31-0.

The second meeting between the schools resulted in a 6-6 tie in 1911. The other identical tie scores for the Huskers came against Iowa State and against Syracuse.

Jim Harbaugh started under center for Michigan as it held off a late 4th-quarter Nebraska rally to win 27-23 in Tempe on New Year’s Day 1986. Harbaugh had 2 rushing TDs as the Wolverines overcame a 14-3 halftime deficit. The game pitted 2 of the most legendary coaches of all-time in Tom Osborne and Bo Schembechler. It was also the game where Nebraska QB Steve Taylor made his debut as a freshman. Taylor replaced McCathorn Clayton and led Nebraska to a 4 fourth- quarter TD.

The 2005 Alamo Bowl had one of the craziest endings of all time. The 1982 Cal-Stanford game would be reminiscent of what was to come. Tyler Ecker used 7 laterals with the ball in his hands as time expired. Zack Bowman knocked him out of bounds to save the day for the Huskers.

Nebraska's first year in the B1G was met with a bit of resistance. Michigan dismantled Bo Pelini's team 45-17 in Ann Arbor. The Huskers dropped a near-identical 48- 17 game in Madison earlier.

Nebraska beat Michigan 23-9 in 2012. It's the only season Nebraska has qualified for the B1G championship game. The Huskers won 6 straight league games en route to the Legends Division title. Michigan finished 6-2 in the division and a game behind the Husker.

Nebraska came from behind to beat Michigan 17-13 in 2013. Ameer Abdullah scored the winning touchdown with 2 minutes left. Michigan finished with negative rushing yards and lost 5 of their last 6 games.

Michigan beat Nebraska 56-10 in Scott Frost's first game in charge. It was one of 10 straight wins for Michigan that year. The Wolverines won against Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Michigan beat Nebraska 32-29 in Memorial Stadium. Michigan led 13-0 at half and 29-26 at the end. Adrian Martinez threw 3 TD passes for Nebraska.
