Neil Harris: Millwall boss urges players to embrace 'underdog' status against Leeds United

Leeds are unbeaten in their last 12 matches in the Championship, winning 11 of those games, and have not lost at Elland Road in the Championship this season.

Resurgent Millwall have taken 10 points from a possible 12 since Harris returned to replace Joe Edwards as head coach, moving the Lions five points clear of the relegation zone.

Wins against Southampton and Watford were followed by a draw with Blackburn Rovers, before a victory against Birmingham City at the Den.

A win at Elland Road could move the team eight points clear of relegation with eight games left of the season but Harris knows his team will need to be at their best to get a result on Sunday.

"This is going to be as difficult as it's ever been [to win away at Leeds]," he told BBC Radio London.

"It's as difficult as a Leeds team who were top of the league when we won there about five years ago [2018, when Millwall won 4-3], as difficult as a Leeds team I was victorious against in the play-offs as a player [in the 2009 League One play-off semi-final, which Millwall won 2-1 on aggregate].

"But we're going to enjoy it. As a football club, we are the underdog going into this game and that's when we're at our best.

"Leeds have got an excellent home record this season and are there to be shot at and that's what we're going to do."

Leeds won the reverse fixture comfortably 3-0 at the Den with two goals from Joel Piroe and a third from Georginio Rutter.

The Whites have won 10 of their last 12 home league games against Millwall, coming from behind to win the last two 3-2.
