New Mexico State vs. UTEP: Prediction, Betting Odds & How To Watch

New Mexico State is getting closer to becoming bowl-eligible.

The Aggies (4-3, 2-1 Conference USA) have an opportunity to further improve their record on the road at UTEP (2-5, 1-2) at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.

NMSU is a -3.5 college football betting odds favorite against UTEP, with the Over/Under being 48.

The moneyline for New Mexico State is -160, while it’s +135 for UTEP.

The NMSU-UTEP game will be televised on ESPN2.

I’m picking New Mexico State to win and cover the spread at -3.5. I also am predicting the game will go Over 48 total points.

I simply believe the Aggies are a better team on both sides of the ball. They’re among the top three teams in CUSA in terms of scoring offense (30 points per game) and scoring defense (23.1 points per game allowed). UTEP, meanwhile, is worse in both categories.

NMSU has scored 61 points in its last two games, and UTEP just put up 27 points last week against FIU. I could see both offenses finding success in this clash, but I think NMSU will ultimately win by a touchdown.
