The defending champions are in freefall and are fourth in the Eastern Conference table. They are four points behind New Yorkers City who are third in that table and in need of a win. Last time the two sides met, New Yorks City won 1-0 thanks to a Valentin Castellanos goal.

New York Red Bulls need to start the game on the front foot and push for the first goal in the opening 20 minutes. New York City FC haven't been the most free-scoring team in MLS this season. They will be more reliant on their high-pressing system creating most of the chances for them.
