New York sports betting came into existence in 2022. It made $14.6 billion in the first year of action. New Jersey was second with $8.8 billion, Illinois third with about $7.7 billion and Nevada fourth with around $6.9 billion.
FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars and BetMGM are the biggest operators in New York. The four operators have 93% of the market share. New Jersey is the leading state for sports betting. Nevada has had legal sports gambling since 1931. Since 2018, $27 billion has been wagered in Nevada. New Yorkers are betting more on sports. They are also betting online. In 2022, New Yorker's betting will reach $14 billion.
