Newcastle transfer news: Magpies hold further talks to sign Arsenal target Ivan Fresneda

Newcastle United have held further talks over a deal for Real Valladolid talent Ivan Fresneda as they look to beat Arsenal to his signature.

That’s according to the Daily Mail as they report that Newcastle are pushing ahead with their attempts to sign Fresneda.

It’s stated that Newcastle staff are keen to get Fresneda snapped up during this month’s transfer window.

Agent Luis Bardaji travelled to London for talks over the weekend and it looks like Newcastle are taking things further now.

The idea for Newcastle appears to be for a young right back to arrive and learn behind Kieran Trippier before eventually taking over.

Emil Krafth and Javi Manquillo are unlikely to have long-term futures at Newcastle and Fresneda is wanted as the right back of the future.

Newcastle face real Arsenal battle for Ivan Fresneda

The problem for Newcastle is that they’re hardly the only team who has spotted the potential in Fresneda.

Arsenal are also very interested in signing the Spaniard and could launch a move of their own before the transfer deadline.

The Telegraph report that Arsenal have been making their admiration for Fresneda clear in the last few days.

Arsenal would prefer to sign Fresneda over the summer but could move this month if Cedric Soares is sold.

Fulham are pushing to sign Cedric and Arsenal may well go in for Fresneda to replace him in an exciting deal for the future.

Playing under a Spanish coach in Mikel Arteta may well appeal to Fresneda, so Newcastle face a real battle.

Fresneda, 18, is a former Real Madrid talent who has now become a first-team player with Valladolid.

Fresneda has turned out nine times for Valladolid in La Liga and has been earning huge praise for his performances.

A player with enormous potential, Fresneda faces a big decision in the next fortnight with Arsenal and Newcastle fighting for his services.
