The regular total for this game is just 45.5, but I like the over so much I wanted to take the alternate over at 49.5.
A common score of 27-24 gets us there. If we look at how these teams are trending, I’m expecting a back-and-forth game with both sides passing the ball a bunch. The Cowboys’ defense has struggled with injuries as of late and in the past four games has only stifled Josh Dobbs.
They allowed 26 points to Sam Howell in his first career start, 34 points to Gardner Minshew in his first start, and 40 to Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars.
The Buccaneer’s defense hasn’t been as strong as we think either. They have been playing competently against horrible offenses. But, against good offenses, they have allowed 35 to the 49ers, 34 to the Bengals, and 41 to the Chiefs.
Both offenses have had their fair share of issues, with Dallas’ coming the week prior. I’m willing to bet on that being an anomaly as Dallas’ offense has largely been strong otherwise. We have been waiting all season for the Buccaneer’s offense to turn it on and they finally found some rhythm to end the year.
This game has massive shootout potential. Going along with this theme of a high-scoring game, I correlated three other plays accordingly.
CeeDee Lamb 100+ receiving yards (+225)
Lamb has been the focal point of the passing game and now has the best matchup against the Bucs secondary.
Lamb has lined up in the slot for the majority of his snaps and the Bucs have allowed the fifth-most yards per target to opposing slot receivers. If this game turns into a shootout, Lamb should cruise over 100 yards.
Tom Brady 300+ passing yards (+162)
Brady’s regular line is 275.5 but we all know how these games go. If the running game isn’t working or the Bucs fall behind, Brady will throw every play until they catch up.
I expect the Dallas offense to have a ton of success which will naturally thrust Brady into a pass-happy spree.
In the four games where 49 total points or more were scored, Brady has more than 300 passing yards. So if we expect a high-scoring game, we can expect Brady to get there.
Mike Evans 100+ receiving yards (+350)
In the four aforementioned games where 49-or-more points were scored, Evans had 83, 103, 123, and 207 receiving yards.
His normal prop is 64.5 due to his volatility this season and that’s why I would always recommend shooting for the upside outcome of 100+ receiving yards.
Chris Godwin 70+ receiving yards (+114)
This correlates with Brady throwing for 300+ yards. Godwin has an awesome matchup against Cowboys slot cornerback DaRon Bland who has graded out as one of the worst slot corners in the league.
Maybe he draws some extra attention from Trevon Diggs but even then, Godwin is good enough to get the better of him.
