NHL parlay picks March 29: Bet on Tkachuk, Horvat

There are only three NHL games on Wednesday, but still plenty of options for a three-leg parlay.

The pregame narrative: Matthew Tkachuk and Bo Horvat are shooting the puck with great frequency and consistency, putting the over on both of their shot totals in play. We’re also taking the Minnesota Wild as puck line underdogs against the Colorado Avalanche.

NHL odds as of 11:38 a.m. on 03/29/2023.

NHL parlay picks

Parlay: Tkachuk over 3.5 shots + Horvat over 2.5 shots + Wild +1.5 (+434)

Tkachuk over 3.5 shots (-118): Tkachuk operates under a shoot-first mentality, making him an excellent bet to usurp his shot prop on most nights.

The physical forward ranks eighth with 287 shots on goal this season. He’s averaging an impressive 4.04 shots per game, putting him comfortably above this total.

Tkachuk is also clearing this line with great consistency. He has four-plus shots in each of his last four outings and 11 of his last 15.

The Florida Panthers face the Toronto Maple Leafs, and although their opponent is allowing the sixth-fewest shots per game (29.3) this season, that didn’t stop Tkachuk from topping this total in a recent outing. Tkachuk finished with four shots on goal in last Thursday’s date with Toronto.

Other parlay picks

Horvat over 2.5 shots (-112): Horvat is fitting in very nicely on the New York Islanders, serving as the team’s top-line centre and a fixture on the first power-play unit. As a heavily utilized member, Horvat is seeing plenty of opportunities to put pucks on goal.

Since joining the Isles, Horvat is averaging 3.00 shots per game. Even his season-long rate of 2.94 is firmly above what this total is asking of him.

Horvat is consistently topping this total, too, registering three-plus shots in five of his last six and 10 of his last 13.

The matchup isn’t one that should scare off prop bettors, either. New York faces the Washington Capitals, and they’re allowing 35.1 shots per 60 over their last three contests, according to Natural Stat Trick.

Wild +1.5 (-195): Many thought Kirill Kaprizov’s injury would derail Minnesota’s season. Not only are the Wild treading water without their premier offensive star, but they’re thriving.

They’ve won four of their last five ahead of Wednesday’s contest and have secured at least one point in 19 of their last 20 games. Given their strong run of recent play, a blowout loss would come as a major surprise.

The Avalanche are playing strong hockey, too, winning nine of their last 10 games. Even during this hot streak, however, Colorado has covered this number just five times.
