NHL training camp is a time for dreams
A couple of dozen Bruins dreamers, ages 18-25, are in a five-team NHL rookie challenge tournament that ends on Monday. The chosen few will advance to this coming week's varsity camp in Brighton. Most kids will be designated elsewhere. 25 years ago, Boston’s stick-carrying, ruby-cheeked aspirants filed into Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington. Joe Thornton was the headliner, the show stolen months before the Bruins called his name on the draft floor. Sergei Viktorovich Samsonov was named the Calder Trophy winner as the NHL's rookie of the year.
