Nick Nurse wants to develop Paul Reed into Pascal Siakam-type player / News

After signing a new 3-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, Paul Reed is preparing to develop under a new head coach Nick Nurse.

Reed revealed that Nurse wants to make him a similar player to Pascal Siakam, who he coached during his stint with the Toronto Raptors since 2018.

"I've talked to him plenty of times, and it's always been kind of the same kind of idea," Reed told Sixers Wire. "He talked about molding me into a Pascal Siakam-type player. Someone who can kind of do it all. Shoot the ball, drive, pass, but right now, it's all about focusing on my shot mechanics."

Reed was a restricted free agent this summer, and the Utah Jazz offered a 3-year $23 million deal, which the 76ers decided to match.

During the 2022-23 season, Reed averaged 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 69 appearances. However, he performed even better during the playoffs, averaging 4.6 points and 5.5 rebounds as Joel Embiid's backup.
