No Irish Derby joy for Kerry runners but Liam Dowling collects €25,000 for second place finisher Ballymac Finn

Liam Dowling's Ballymac Finn finished second in the final of the Boylesports Irish Derby at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night. Born Warrior won the race. The 7/4 favourite, Denis Murphy's Callaway Pro Am, finished fourth. Dowled's other horse, Balymac Ben, came second to Kildare in a consolation prize of €1,500.

Padraig Regan's son, Donal, is a successful greyhound trainer. Padraigs has won 736 greyhounds in his career. Last week, Classy Trend won the concluding 525 for A2 class. The opening A1 525 was won in 28.79 by Chris Houlihan’s Cashen Ubari. Roadstone Barney won unchallenged in A3 525 in 28:86.

Noel O’Leary's Loher Tiger finished second to Benmore Bolt in a 325-yard race at the Oakview venue on Saturday night. Liam Dowling collects €25,000 for second place finisher Ballymac Finn.
