Nuggets at Hornets Prediction

The Denver Nuggets travel to the Spectrum Center to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night.

The Denver Nuggets have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last six games, but they will be eager to bounce back in this one after laying an egg against the Magic in a 115-104 road loss on Thursday. Aaron Gordon led the team with 37 points, 13 rebounds on 15 of 21 shooting, Nikola Jokic added 29 points with 12 rebounds and six assists while Michael Porter Jr. chipped in with 12 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Nuggets shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line as they opened the game with a 12-0 run, but it’s like they switched off because the Magic quickly erased that lead and dominated the rest of the game to pull off the big upset. Jokic didn’t get himself going until the second half while Porter Jr had a night to forget as he shot just three of 16 from the field.

Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a real slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to a six-game slide after getting routed by the Celtics in a 127-116 road loss last night. Terry Rozier led the team with 27 points, LaMelo Ball tallied 24 points with nine rebounds and 10 assists while PJ Washington chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 48 percent from the field and eight of 23 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up with the Celtics from the start and allowed 71 points in the first half to fall behind by as many as 28 points before they made a bit of a run in the second half to keep the final scores respectable.

Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 0-6 ATS in their last six road games against a team with a losing home record. The Hornets are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.

Head to head, the Nuggets are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Charlotte.

The Nuggets could be shorthanded again as Jamal Murray is questionable while Aaron Gordon is listed as day to day. The Hornets will be missing a couple of players as Svi Mykhailiuk and Cody Martin are both out again. The Nuggets are clearly the team in better form in this matchup and they will be kicking themselves after getting beaten by the lowly Magic in their last outing, so I don’t see them getting off to another slow start, not against this Hornets team who rank near the bottom in defense. Give me the Nuggets to bounce back and get the big win and cover on the road.
