Oakland A’s news: Stephen Vogt announces retirement

Stephen Vogt announced that he will retire at the end of this season. Vogts played in the Major Leagues since 2007. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2007 and called up to the majors in 2012. The catcher was traded to Oakland before the 2013 season and returned to them before 2022 season began. His career highlights include a walkoff win against the Tigers in 2013 ALDS and throwing out Jhonny Peralta in a strike-and-throw-out double play. He missed all of 2018 due to a shoulder injury. In 2019, he signed a minor-league deal with the Giants.
