Odds to win the Stanley Cup: Oilers still leading, Maple Leafs fall after trade deadline

The NHL trade deadline is done so what you see is what you get between now and the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The latest: The Edmonton Oilers are the clubhouse leaders, holding down the best odds to win the Stanley Cup. The New York Rangers are the best value as they storm toward the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Best odds to win the Stanley Cup

The Oilers are surging as they try to catch the Vancouver Canucks for first in the Pacific Division.

Winners of five straight entering play on March 8, they currently sit 11 points back of their rival. Edmonton does have four games in hand, though, plus a head-to-head meeting against Vancouver later this season.

Finishing first in the division is still not out of the question — especially when Connor McDavid is lighting up the league.

The Oilers superstar is riding a 13-game point streak with 29 total points.

Edmonton did add at the deadline, too, acquiring Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick and Troy Stecher.

Seeing if those moves are enough to put the Oilers past their divisional rival and the defending Stanley Cup champs will be worth tuning in for.

The Vegas Golden Knights made two of the biggest splashes at the deadline, adding Noah Hanifin and Tomas Hertl. Those moves helped shorten the team's odds to +1,050.

Other odds to win the Stanley Cup

A pair of tough losses aren't going to shake me off the Rangers.

They lost to Atlantic Division heavyweights in the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers this past week, but are still ahead of the Carolina Hurricanes for first in the Metro.

The most encouraging development for bettors is the improved play of Igor Shesterkin. The goaltender seems to be putting it together after a rocky start. He's 6-1-1 in his last eight outings to go along with a .948 save percentage.

New York made some under-the-radar moves ahead of the deadline, landing Alex Wennberg, Chad Ruhwedel and Jack Roslovic.

The Canadian teams

Some of Canada's teams were busy ahead of the trade deadline. Here are some noteworthy moves from some of the country's top contenders.
