Orioles’ playoff push still exists statistically, but not realistically

Orioles lost the series opener against the Detroit Tigers 11-0. They are still in the American League wild-card race, but their chances are slim. Their remaining schedule is difficult, especially against teams with the three best records in AL. First baseman Ryan Mountcastle took a fastball off his left elbow on Saturday. He returned to the lineup on Monday. He wore an elbow protector to play the game. There are only 16 games remaining in Orioles’ season. The team has no off day until the season”s end. It is playing against below .500 teams in 11 of the remaining games.
