Over €17 million wagered as Ireland's first Tote World Pool event proves popular
Over €17 million was wagered on day one of Longines Irish Champions Weekend. It was the first time Irish racing opened its pools to the Tote World Pool initiative. The event took place on the same weekend as racing in Hong Kong. Leopardstown chief executive Tim Husbands believes the presence of the global initiative increased international interest in the track's stellar card. The Totes' win price beat the industry starting price in six out of eight races at Leopardtown. There was one overbroke market on tote.ie/tote.co.uk in Irish Champion Stakes.
