Paddy Power launches limited-edition brew ahead of Irish glory at Cheltenham Festival

IRISH bookmaker Paddy Power has launched a limited-edition lager ahead of the Cheltenham Festival – and promise to give punters attending their fanzones an exclusive taste of “British Tears” if an Irish horse wins on Gold Cup Day.

The specially commissioned home brew was created in partnership with a craft brewery in Dublin, Ireland, to celebrate their first ever Cheltenham Fanzone at Greenwood Sports Pub and Kitchen near Victoria in London City.

On March 17, they will open their doors to the ultimate escape for punters to roar on the action during the fourth and final day of the festival.

The event is expected to play host to the countless number of horse racing fans who won’t make it to the Cotswolds this year after organisers were moved to reduce capacity to 68,500 per day.

But the mischievous brand has promised a St. Patrick’s Day drink for everyone present at their London event should the Irish runners perform as expected next week.

Paddy Power currently make it an odds on of 1/2 that the Irish will clean up by winning 19 or more races during the four day marathon.

THOUSANDS OF GLASSES

And if just one of them win on the Friday of the festival, Paddy will be pouring thousands of complimentary glasses of ‘British Tears’ for all the guests in attendance at their Cheltenham Fanzone.

The Paddy Power Fanzone will feature live entertainment from Irish hip hop improv artist, Abandoman.

Paddy Power spokesperson Rachael Kane said: "The Irish horse racing contingent’s performance at the Cheltenham Festival in recent years has been so dominant that it could hardly be scripted better for those looking for a free pint.

"To celebrate their inevitable success we've created a limited-edition lager to treat punters in our London fanzone to a taste of ‘British Tears’.

"Hopefully it won’t prove as difficult to swallow as the taste of defeat.”

The Paddy Power Cheltenham Fanzone will be at Greenwood Sports Pub & Kitchen, London on March 17, from 10am – 10pm.

Tickets are available for £20 at www.paddypower.com/fanzone.

DANCE REMIX

Meanwhile, Cheltenham Festival and DJ Cuddles have teamed up to release a mindblowing dance remix of racing's most famous roar.

The completely unique track - titled Re-Roar - features commentary from Ian Bartlett throughout and is 3-1 to crack the top 10.

The Jockey Club released the three-minute toe-tapper on Tuesday, one week before racing's biggest meeting kicks off with the traditional cheer that greets runners in the Supreme.

DJ Cuddles, a huge hit in the British clubbing scene, posted a sample of the clip online.

He said: "So here's a new one. I got asked to make a track for Cheltenham Festival.

"Sampling their crowd noises and famous Cheltenham roar."

His track will be played next Wednesday as part of a two-hour live set in the Best Mate Pavilion at the track.

Cheltenham boss Ian Renton said the release was a 'dance anthem like no other'.

And he said he hopes the banging beat helps bring a whole new crowd into racing.

He said: "We've really enjoyed teaming up with DJ Cuddles to create the Roar Remix.

"It's a dance anthem like no other, which takes the famous Cheltenham roar from race track to club track.

"The roar is widely celebrated among racing fans and now, we want to bring this iconic tradition to the masses.

"We hope it will encourage new audiences to engage with horseracing, while celebrating our existing fanbase and the institution that Cheltenham Festival has become."
