Penn State among top value bets to win Big Ten; Beaver Stadium set to host yoga class and a movie night, and more

Today’s Penn State football news headlines feature where the Lions rank among betting favorites to win the Big Ten, plus a look at two new uses for Beaver Stadium.

While Michigan and Ohio State are prohibitive favorites to win the Big Ten title – the two programs have combined to win the past six straight – Penn State and Iowa are better money plays according to preseason odds, writes Tom Fornelli for CBS Sports. Penn State is on the board with +650 odds, meaning a $100 bet would net $650, but with a team many think can make a run at the Big Ten crown and perhaps a spot in the College Football Playoff. Perhaps the biggest variable is the play of talented first-year starting quarterback Drew Allar.

Penn State continues to branch out with its usage of Beaver Stadium with plans for an 18-and-older yoga class and a showing of Disney’s “The Lion King” in back-to-back weekends in July, writes Ben Jones for StateCollege.com. Athletic director Pat Kraft has indicated that the university does plan to expand its use of Beaver Stadium beyond just “seven days a year” for home football games. Part of the school’s plans to renovate the stadium also includes better equipping it to handle events in the winter months.
