Phillies vs. Diamondbacks prediction and odds for Monday, June 12

The Phillies continue to fight to get to .500 and it won't beat easy as the team starts a series in Arizona this week.

The Diamondbacks have been firing on all cylinders this season at 40-25, but the Phillies maintain a high ceiling after making the World Series last season. Despite the 32-33 mark, Philadelphia remains firmly in the NL Wild Card mix.

Here are the odds for the opening matchup of this National League series on Monday night:

This is going to be a battle of left handed starts with the Phillies set to start Matt Strahm while the Diamondbacks counter with Tommy Henry.

The Phillies have a ton of power against left handed pitching, slugging at a .420 rate, which is just outside the top 10 in the bigs, but has the third most home runs against southpaw pitchers (28). That's going to be a big edge for the Phils, who will face second year pro Henry, who has allowed eight home runs in nine appearances this season and has struggled with his control.

The Phillies power at the plate is going to be an issue for Henry, who has about five strikeouts and four walks per nine innings. He has been getting barreled up all season long and if he can't throw strikes he's going to get himself into trouble.

Strahm has been admirable as an opener this season, pitching to a 3.61 ERA in over 42 innings, and I'll give the Phillies in a coin toss matchup due to its pop in the lineup.
