While the Cavaliers appear to be in good position for the postseason, they cannot rest on their laurels when it comes to securing home court advantage in the first round. The Pistons on the other hand, are simply focused on developing their young talent while hoping they receive a favorable result in the NBA Draft Lottery. From a superstar perspective, it is difficult for the Pistons to compete without a star option such as Donovan Mitchell.

Regardless of that, there is still a reason why they play the game, and Saturday’s game can go either direction, so what can we expect? Let’s dig into our Pistons vs. Cavaliers predictions with the odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.

It is difficult to sugar coat or to put a positive spin on this matchup as these teams are not exactly evenly matched. Detroit is currently in the midst of a six-game losing streak and they are 1-9 in their last 10 games with a 7-25 record on the road, so we aren’t exactly seeing them from a position of strength. On the other hand, Cleveland is 26-7 at home for the season and fourth in the Eastern Conference looks a whole lot better than 15th.

We don’t want to spend too much time tearing down the Pistons, but not much has gone right for them this year. If we are looking for a bright spot, one previously was Jalen Duren, but with a combined 10 points in his last three games, he has hit a speedbump. Detroit did add James Wiseman at the trade deadline, and he has had some success since joining the team, but when matched up against Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, it will be difficult.

At first glance, this certainly is a hefty number we are looking at from a spread perspective. After these two teams played last month, the question might be whether it is large enough? In that game, Cleveland defeated the Pistons by a score of 113-85, and we don’t have reason to expect a different result tonight.

While it certainly has been a good thing to see Jaden Ivey’s progressive throughout the season, the plan wasn’t exactly for him to essentially be a lone ranger this year. While Bojan Bogdanovic has been a strong veteran scorer, he is not a go-to option, and he is also sidelined on Saturday. This is especially noticeable when you line up the two teams and see the dual backcourt threat of Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland on the opposing side.

With this under consideration, the best bet from our Pistons vs. Cavaliers predictions is on Cleveland to cover the 14.5-point spread.

The total (over/under) of 220 points is listed at -110 odds on both the over and under. Remember, if you stick with the money line, you could win $150 in bonus bets with a $5 bet after you join DraftKings.

The key area of focus here is going to be the offense, as it is hard to overlook what we are seeing from Mitchell. In his first year with Cleveland, the guard is averaging 27.5 points per game with 4.8 assists and four rebounds per game as he has certainly wasted no time making himself feel right at home.

From the Detroit perspective, the one constant for them this season has been the performance of Jaden Ivey. The rookie is averaging 15.4 points, 4.6 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game and it is hard to talk about the Pistons without focusing on Ivey’s stats. However, it simply has not been enough for many wins.
