Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Seattle Mariners Picks, Predictions & Odds

Friday has arrived, and everyone is ready to celebrate the best day of the week. There is no better way to celebrate than to bet on baseball. With no NBA today, MLB should have a lot of eyes focused on it. Our attention is focused on an interleague matchup between the Pittsburgh Pirates (25-24, second in NL Central) and the Seattle Mariners (26-24, fourth in AL West).

The MLB schedule looks a lot different than it did in years past. It is becoming commonplace to see MLB teams like the Pirates and Mariners square off, despite being separated by the NL and NL. Although these organizations are not very familiar with one another, they are in very similar spots in terms of the MLB standings.

These two teams have their eyes set on playing meaningful baseball in October, so all three MLB games in this series matter. With that being said, let’s get ready to check out the Pirates vs Mariners odds.

There is no time like the present to make your MLB picks. An important note when looking at the MLB odds is that this is the first time the Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners have played each other this year. On top of that, the Pirates are coming off a day of full rest. Let’s jump right into the Pirates vs Mariners odds for the late-night game.

Moneyline: On the moneyline, the Pittsburgh Pirates are given +135 MLB odds, and the Seattle Mariners are the slight favorites at T-Mobile Park with -150 odds.

Spread: When it comes to the spread for your MLB picks, the Pirates will be given +1.5 (-160) odds, and the Mariners will have to cover -1.5 (+140).

Over/Under: Finally, the over/under is set at an even 7 runs in what might be the best pitching matchup of the day. You have seen our Pirates vs Mariners odds, so now let’s meet the starting pitchers.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Seattle Mariners

In terms of MLB stats, this has been the best season for Mitch Keller on the mound. In his five years with the Pittsburgh Pirates, the 27-year-old is having a breakout year. He has been a huge piece to this Pittsburgh Pirates roster that continues to turn heads. The Pirates are 3-1 against teams in the AL when Keller pitches. Keep in mind all of these teams are above .500 on the year. Can Keller keep up his good against the AL?

The RHP is 5-1 with a 2.44 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and has an impressive 77 strikeouts through 62.2 innings pitched. Keller has simply been a workhorse in 2023 going deep in almost every outing. He has brilliant swing-and-miss stuff and a very good WHIP. Throughout his four starts in May, Keller has only allowed a combined three earned runs. Even with that being the case, the Pirates only won two of those games. If Pittsburgh wants to take the first game of the series, they need to provide Keller with more run support.

Things finally seem to be clicking for the Seattle Mariners who recently reached the .500 plateau on the year. The Seattle Mariners game today could further push them above that mark and continue their four-game winning streak. George Kirby will be the man on the mound who looks to make that happen.

Kirby is 5-3 with a 2.62 ERA, 1.01 WHIP has 47 strikeouts through 58.1 innings pitched. The 25-year-old relies more on soft contact rather than strikeouts, and it has seemed to work early in 2023. In games that Kirby has pitched this year, the Mariners have outscored their opponents 45-27. On top of that, they have won three of the last four games he has pitched.

As the Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners are set to battle, the total is set very low. We have a phenomenal pitching matchup and two offenses that struggle to produce runs.

  • Take under 7 (-110) runs in this one.

Betting on the spread seems like a risky idea in this one. This game has a great chance of being low scoring and decided by one or two runs.

  • The moneyline is the move, and we are rolling with Seattle (-150) over Pittsburgh.
