Portland Timbers vs. Tigres UANL in the 2023 Leagues Cup: score updates, live stream, odds, time, tv channel, how to watch online (7/26/23)

The Portland Timbers play host to Liga MX champions Tigres UANL in the second of two group stage matches in the inaugural Leagues Cup tournament. The match kicks off Wednesday, July 26 at 8:00 p.m. PT/11:00 p.m. ET with live broadcasts on FS1 and UniMás.

EXPLAINED: The Leagues Cup includes all 29 MLS clubs and 18 clubs from Mexico’s Liga MX in a first-of-its-kind tournament featuring a group stage followed by knockout rounds. There are no ties in the group stage: A regulation win counts as three points, and if the match is tied after 90 minutes, it goes straight to penalty kicks, with the winner in penalties receiving two points and the loser receiving one.

The top two finishers in points from each group will advance to the 32-team knockout stage. Portland (3 points) beat the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 in its first group stage match, meaning it will only need to avoid losing in regulation and earn at least one point against Tigres in order to secure a spot in the knockout stage.

If the Timbers fail to capture a point on Wednesday, the Earthquakes (0 points) will need to beat Tigres on Saturday and make up ground in goal differential in order for Portland (or Tigres) to be eliminated. A win Wednesday — either in regulation or penalties — guarantees the Timbers the top spot in their group.
