Preston North End vs. Tottenham Odds, Predictions & Betting Tips

Preston North End take on Spurs in the FA Cup on Saturday and our man Jimmy The Punt is on hand with his best bets for the game. 

Does anyone know what is going on with Preston North End? Of all the Championship teams, they are probably the most consistently unpredictable.

This campaign, they have won (11) more than they have lost (10), yet have been better on the road then at Deepdale boasting the second best away record in the second tier and the third worst home record, averaging 1.93 points per game away and 0.93 at home. 

Ryan Lowe’s side have dished out two thumpings in which they have scored four or more, and been on the receiving end of three. The most recent of which coming at home to Norwich, who they beat in a five goal thriller at Carrow Road in the reverse. 

Annoyingly, Preston would have probably been a chunkier price if this clash were to take place in North London, and I would have been more confident on siding with them there. 

The best way to gauge how this game is going to go, is probably by looking at their opponents, Tottenham.  Antonio Conte’s side's form is stuttering, losing half of their last six games and falling off the pace in their pursuit of Champions League qualification. 

Harry Kane’s stellar campaign, is going a long way to papering over the cracks and picking up the slack of attacking counterpart Son Heung-min, who is having a torrid time. Kane scored the only goal of the game at Craven Cottage as his side edged past Fulham and will most likely lead the line in Lancashire, flanked by Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.

I was really tempted by the chunky 8/1 about a home victory here, despite North End’s inconsistency. Instead I have opted for the goal headstart on the asian line, essentially double chance, with the added security of our stake back if Spurs win by a single goal margin. 

This bet would have been a push when Tottenham faced Portsmouth in the last round. Kane scored the only goal on a forgettable afternoon for the top flight side. Despite 72% of possession and 18 shots, the goal was the only one that hit the target. 

Preston, a league Pomey’s superior, should make it even more difficult for Spurs and provide more of a threat offensively.
