But now, the North London outfit travel to Championship side Preston who recovered from a one-goal deficit to beat Huddersfield in the previous round.

  • Half-time: Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Antonio Conte's side have had all the ball, but they've been restricted to efforts from distance.

Kulusevski and Son have come the closest, but Tottenham haven't done enough to score a goal.

  • 45. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

We're into one added minute at the end of the opening period.

  • 44. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

We're approaching the final few minutes of this first half and despite not offering much going forward, the home fans will surely be content with what they've seen.

As I say that, Kulusevski is played in on the right side of the box, but Lindsay makes a fine block.

  • 41. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Another poor piece of play from Tottenham, who patiently knock the ball around and Tanganga works it out to Doherty on the right.

But his cross is easy for Woodman.

The delivery from both sides has massively lacked quality.

  • 36. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Tottenham win a free-kick on the right, but Son's cross is poor and is deflected behind for a corner.

That corner is headed behind by Brady for another corner and that one falls for Kulusevski, who cuts inside and fires just over.

  • 35. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Tottenham have regained control and are knocking the ball around with ease.

But the Premier League side are still lacking the cutting edge.

  • 31. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Preston are really standing firm and Spurs have been unable to get the dangerous Kulusevski into the game.

Son has looked the likeliest to make the difference, but the Swede is struggling up there.

  • 28. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

First proper shot of the game for Preston.

Ledson wins the ball back and has a go from distance, but fails to trouble Forster.

  • 25. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Following a spell of possession from Spurs, space opens up for Son, this time on his right foot and he curls towards goal for the second time.

But Woodman is once again on hand to do the required work, tipping the ball behind for a corner.

  • 21. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Spurs have enjoyed 80 per cent of the possession inside the first 21 minutes but they've really struggled to create much.

Up the other end, a Preston free-kick is launched into the box and the ball falls nicely for Hughes, but his resulting shot is blocked and then Tottenham manage to clear.

  • 18. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Lenglet's cross is deflected behind for a corner.

Son once again takes the resulting kick, but Preston manage to scramble clear once again.

  • 16. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

First attempt on target of the game.

Son picks it up outside the box and curls a decent effort on goal that Woodman does well to hold.

  • 14. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Preston are beginning to frustrate Tottenham, whose final pass hasn't been good enough yet.

Son goes on a mazy run but is eventually stopped 25 yards out.

  • 11. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

We have a brief pause in play as McCann receives treatment following a whack to the face.

  • 9. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Spurs really on top now and Preston can't really get out.

But Antonio Conte's side are yet to register a shot on target with the home team sticking to the task at hand.

  • 7. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Whiteman catches Tanganga and gives away a free-kick in a good position on the left, around 25 yards out.

Perisic steps up and it's deflected into the path of Kulusevski, but his effort is excellently blocked after the space opened up for him.

  • 4. Preston 0-0 Tottenham

Sessegnon puts over a cross to the far post and Doherty is coming in but Brady gets there first and concedes a corner.

Tottenham play it short and Son sends it over, but it comes to nothing.

  • Kick-off: Preston vs Tottenham

    We're underway at Deepdale.

Preston get the game started and it's a cracking atmosphere in Lancashire.

  • Kick-off fast approaching

We're less than 10 minutes away from this fourth round tie getting underway.

It's filling up nicely at Deepdale and more than 5,500 Tottenham fans have made the trip up from London.

Promises to be an exciting cup tie.

  • Preston's home struggles

Their third round victory over Huddersfield aside, Preston's home form of late has been dreadful to say the least.

Ryan Lowe's side have won just three times at Deepdale in the Championship all season and go into tonight's clash on a four-match losing run.

Furthermore, only Wolves and Gillingham (6) have scored fewer in home games this term than the Whites.

On the other hand, Tottenham's away form has picked up since the World Cup with standout results coming against Crystal Palace and Fulham last time out.

In fact, Antonio Conte's side have picked up as many points on their travels (18) as they have in North London.

Despite their inconsistent form this season, Tottenham are huge favourites to progress to the fifth round.

  • Richarlison misses out

Richarlison's recent frustrations continue as he misses out once again with a minor injury sustained in training.

Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini said: "Richarlison is not available today, it's not a big problem, so we have only to wait some days."

The Brazilian has started just ONE game for Spurs since the middle of October.

Hugo Lloris, Cristian Romero, Djed Spence and Pape Matar Sarr are also not involved at Deepdale.

  • Recent meetings

Tonight is Preston's first clash with Tottenham since a Carabao Cup tie back in 2009.

On that occasion, Spurs, boasting the likes of Gareth Bale, Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch in their starting XI, ran out 5-1 winners.

Crouch scored a hat-trick with Keane and Jermain Defoe also on the scoresheet, while Chris Brown grabbed a late consolation for the Whites.
