Preview & Prediction: Boston College Football vs Miami

On Friday afternoon, the Boston College Eagles football team hosts the Miami Hurricanes for the final match-up of the 2023 regular season. Both teams come into this game at 6-5, having already secured a bowl game and now are just playing for bragging rights over each other and perhaps a better bowl berth.

Who: Boston College Eagles (6-5) vs Miami Hurricanes (6-5)

Where: Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, MA

When: Friday November 24th

Kickoff Time: 12pm ET

How to Watch: This game will be broadcasted live on ABC

BC is limping to the goal line here, coming off of two straight losses to Virginia Tech and Pitt after they had put together a five-game win streak. The Eagles played well enough to defeat some subpar competition during the streak and rack up a few ACC wins, but their luck caught up to them and the defense especially has looked lousy after losing some key playmakers like Elijah Jones. Miami, meanwhile, is on a losing streak of their own. The Hurricanes have dropped three-straight games to NC State, FSU, and Louisville, although to be fair, two of those three teams are in the national top-10.

Our staff has spent this week compiling some great content to preview this match-up. Take a look:

What to Watch For

  • Make Miami turn it over. Veteran QB Tyler Van Dyke is back under center for the Canes after initially getting benched, and he has been a turnover machine. BC’s defense needs to force some INTs on his risky passes instead of letting up long scores like they’ve done against Pitt, Louisville, VT, and others.
  • I can’t believe I’m saying this, but let Tommy sling it. Miami’s pass defense is much weaker than their run defense. After the playcalling debacle last week, I hope this staff at least has the guts to continue Castellanos’s foray into downfield passing. It’s usually pretty ugly, but it may work better against this opponent.
  • Make tackles. The BC defense seems to have forgotten their fundamentals as of late, letting VT and Pitt run all over them and they haven’t wrapped them up. I’d be encouraged if Hafley got his guys to get back to basics on that.

Tailgate Treat of the Week

ROLL OUT YOUR THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS, IT’S TIME FOR TURKEY SANDWICHES AND CRANBERRY SAUCE! LET’S GOOOOOOO!!!

Prediction: Miami 34 Boston College 17

I’ve lost confidence. Despite their middling record, Miami is a solid football team and is strong where it counts. BC’s record inflates their ability, having beat up on the likes of UConn, Army, and Pitt. It’s time to limp into the Fenway Bowl.
