Prince of Wales’s Stakes racing tip: Red-hot Ryan Moore to add to Royal Ascot tally on Luxembourg

16:20 Prince of Wales's Stakes (Group 1) (1 mile 2 furlongs)

The Prince of Wales' Stakes was rebooted in 1968 when the title was bestowed upon current King Charles, and the race usually attracts a limited high-class field.

Nine of the last 10 winners have been priced below 6/1, including last year's 5/1 shot State of Rest who finished a length clear of odds-on favourite Bay Bridge.

Bay Bridge lines up again here as one of the early market leaders, and it is no doubt significant that he is piloted today by Richard Kingscote, with last year's jockey Ryan Moore switching to his regular ride on board the early favourite Luxembourg.

This classy colt landed wins five in his first seven outings in 2021 and 2022, with his only blemishes coming in last year's 2000 Guineas (third of 15) and the Arc de Triomphe (seventh of 20).

He could be forgiven his season debut in early May, where he clearly needed the run following a 211-day break and struggled under a different jockey on the softer ground at the Curragh.

It was back to business as usual a month later, when Moore returned to the saddle, and Luxembourg eased to victory in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the same track, with Bay Bridge again having to settle for the runner-up spot.

Moore is in red-hot form after landing three impressive winners on day one, and it's very easy to see him adding to that tally in the feature race of day two.

There's been some interest from Tipstrr's each-way specialists for the two outsiders, but it's hard to see the first two spots being occupied by any other horses but a victorious Luxembourg, with Bay Bridge, Adayar and My Prospero contesting the minor placings.
