Some of the more promising sprinters in country NSW will take aim at Monday’s feature Scone meeting.

And heading the local pack is a speed machine out to prove her debut win nearly four weeks back was no one-off display.

Once Again My Girl, a powerhouse three-year-old daughter of Star Turn and trained by Brett Cavanough, exploded to the front and gave nothing else a chance here in a Maiden on March 20, clocking a record 55.75 secs for the 1000m.

And just to rubber stamp how impressive that was, the runner-up, rival Scone filly Kissaki then destroyed her opposition at Muswellbrook three weeks later by nearly five lengths.

It all adds up to a scary assignment for Once Again My Girl’s rivals in the opening Class 1 Hcp over 1100m, especially with form apprentice Braith Knock claiming 3kg.

Punters won’t have to wait long for another exciting home track filly to make her debut in a Maiden Plate over 1100m.

Insightful Award, a three-year-old daughter of 2013 Cox Plate winner Shamus Award and trained by Scott Singleton, caught the eye with a smart trial win at home late last month.

The stable has always held a big opinion as soon as she won her initial trial at Tamworth in good time last December but decided to put her out and give her more time to develop.

The third of the locally trained sprinting fillies arrives in a Maiden Hcp over the flying 900m.

Speed machine Elleanor’s Gold, by Gold Standard, resumes from a wide draw for the Luke Pepper yard without having publicly trialed, but is reportedly in fine shape and ready to return with a bang.

Her only previous start came back in late October at Gosford where she led for a long way in heavy ground before being collared late.

Also given plenty of time to strengthen up and mature, Elleanor’s Gold has more than enough tactical speed to off-set a wide draw, and could head to a metropolitan race if she puts this lot to the sword.
