Racing has previously occurred at Aintree during the holiday season, with the Yuletide Meeting being held in December between 1953 and 1964. This event took place over two days and was organised by the Topham family, who then owned the racecourse.
However, this year will mark the first time that a race will be held at Aintree on Boxing Day itself. This new fixture will replace the Boxing Day card originally scheduled to take place at Huntingdon, another racecourse owned by The Jockey Club. Unfortunately, the event at Huntingdon will not be held in 2023.
Aintree has a long and illustrious history dating back to 1829, establishing it as one of the most renowned sports venues in the world. As part of our new fixture, Aintree has been granted the privilege of hosting an £80,000 Grade 1 Novices’ Hurdle on Boxing Day. This race is expected to attract the finest Novice Hurdlers from across the UK and will be a prominent highlight of our exciting new race day.
Ladbrokes X-Mas Festival at Kempton Park 2023
