Racing Roundtable: Late Eclipse bids and Echo Zulu

Kellie Reilly, Vance Hanson and Alastair Bull talk about the championship aspirations of the Pennsylvania Derby and Cotillion winners.

Taiba can win the three-year-old male division title if he beats Epicenter in the Breeders' Cup Classic. It's harder for Society to win in three years' old fillies' division. If Society wins at the breeders', she would avenge her loss to Nest in Coaching Club American Oaks.

Taiba and Society need to win Breeders' Cup races to be crowned champions. Flightline and Life Is Good are the horses to beat in the Classic. Society will have to overcome some hard-knocking older mares in Distaff.

Taiba is the most likely winner of the male three-year-old title. If he doesn't win the Breeders' Cup Classic, he would have to beat Epicenter somewhere. Society would need to decisively beat current frontrunner Nest in the female three year old title race.

Echo Zulu won the Dogwood (G3) and is a contender for the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint ( G1). VH and AB think she needs to improve on her performance. She has a lot of ground to make up on other leading Filler & Maries Sprint contenders. She is not quite in the category of recent winners of the Filer & Mars Sprint. Her main rival Wicked Halo was withdrawn. The runner-up Tarabi is an unknown.

Taiba, Society, and Echo Zulu all won stakes on Saturday. Gun Runner had five stakes winners on the day. Kimari won the Gallant Bloom (G2) at Aqueduct on Sunday. VH: Kentucky Oaks winner Secret Oath lost her fourth consecutive race in the Cotillion. Js: Kimarri is a serious prospect. He suggests she will go for the Filly & Mare Sprint rather than the Turf Sprint. She recorded a 110 SR and a 124.6 CR when winning the six-furlong Honorable Miss ( G2).
