These two teams faced each other at this stage of continental qualification 12 months ago with Rangers coming out on top and progressing to the group stage. The first leg in Scotland ended 2-2 before the Gers snatched a 1-0 victory in Eindhoven thanks to an Antonio Colak goal in the second half.

Taking a look at the match result odds and it is the visitors who are the favourites to take an advantage back to Holland, priced at 6/4 for the win. The draw can be sided with at 5/2, while Rangers are chalked-up at 17/10 with most trusted betting sites.

Luuk de Jong to Score & James Tavernier to be carded

Rangers managed to see off Swiss side Servette in the last round, but were far from convincing and we think they may struggle against PSV over these two matches. For our first selection of this 9/1 double, we are backing Luuk de Jong to score anytime in the match. 

Only Xavi Simmons scored more goals in the Eredivisie than Luuk De Jong last season with 14. Now at the age of 32 de Jong is enjoying his second stint at the club and has got his 2023/24 campaign off to a flying start.

The former Barcelona and Sevilla forward has only featured in four matches so far since the beginning of the new term, but has already managed four goals. Three of those have come in Champions League qualifiers with de Jong bagging a brace in the 4-1 home victory against Sturm Graz, before also finding the net in his 45 minute cameo in the second leg out in Austria. 

Rangers were beaten by Kilmarnock on the opening day of the league season and could only manage a 1-1 draw away at Servette. We think there is scope for a few PSV goals here and 9/4 on de Jong to score, looks a strong price.

We’ve also picked out a player to be carded and have taken a lean towards James Tavernier. Only Alfredo Morelos and John Lundstram were shown more yellow cards in the Scottish Premiership last season than Tavernier with six.
