Real Madrid v Leipzig preview, odds and betting tips

Real Madrid are looking to book their place in the Champions League quarter finals by defending their 1-0 advantage against Leipzig on Wednesday night in their Round of 16 second leg.

Real Madrid - 11/20
Draw - 7/2
Leipzig - 17/4

Real Madrid came back from 2-0 down at Valencia on Saturday night to extend their current unbeaten La Liga to record to 21 matches, only denied a late Jude Bellingham winner in controversial circumstances.

The point, combined with Girona's defeat to Mallorca means Carlo Ancelotti's side now sit seven points clear at the top of La Liga as they bid to a record-extending 36th league title.

Los Blancos head into their Champions League Round of 16 second leg having lost just one of their last 31 matches since September in all competitions, and take a 1-0 advantage into the tie following Brahim Diaz's second half winner in Germany three weeks ago.

In all, Los Blancos are unbeaten in their last nine matches, winning six of them, and the 14-time champions of Europe booked their place in the Round of 16 by finishing top of Group C, winning all six of their group stage matches against Napoli, Braga and Union Berlin.

Leipzig haven't quite enjoyed the success this season that their opposition have, with the German side currently sat in fifth position in the Bundesliga, one point shy of the fourth and final Champions League qualifying positions.

Marco Rose's side have also won only three of their last 10 matches in all competitions, losing five of those, including their home defeat to Real Madrid in the first leg of this Champions League Round of 16 clash.

The Red Bulls did get back to winning ways on the weekend though, following their 2-1 defeat at defending champions Bayern Munich last weekend, with a 4-1 win at Bochum to make it three wins in their last five Bundesliga matches.

Leipzig are looking to reach the quarter finals of the Champions League for just the second time in the club's short history, and reached the last 16 stage this time around after finishing second behind Manchester City in Group G this time around, beating Young Boys and Red Star Belgrade to second place.

Real Madrid have only played a home game against Leipzig on one previous occasion, coming in last season's group stage, where late goals from Federico Valverde and Marco Asensio gave the Spanish side a 2-0 win.

Real Madrid will be expected to get the job done at their home stadium with a bit more ease than in Germany three weeks ago and book their place in the quarter finals for the 12th time in the last 14 seasons, and Betway's offer of 9/1 on a 3-1 win looks a potentially profitable one.
