Regally bred runners and rags to riches tales: Royal Ascot day one in preview

Accidental Agent is training for Eve Johnson Houghton for her mother Gaie Johnson. Gai Johnson has bred and raced Accidental agent since he was a vendor buyback at 8,000gns at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. Mohaather is trained by Shadwell for his mother, who bought him for 110,00gn at Book 2 two years ago.

Circus Maximus is the only foal produced by his mare Duntle, a dual Royal Ascot winner. She won the Sandringham Handicap in 2012 and the Duke of Cambridge Stakes a year later. Dunte died after the second foaling.

Hascombe and Valiant Studs' taproot mare Lora is the dam of 1,000 Guineas and Sussex Stakes winner On The House and ancestress of Cracksman. Frankly Darling is a half-sister to Galtres Stake winner Our Obsession and the daughter of Frankel. Golden Horn's first-crop daughters are taking on Frankley Darling in the Ribblesdale.

Shastye is a mare who has produced three individual Royal Ascot winners. She is the daughter of Danehill and the dam of Japan and Mogul. Shasty's other two daughters are Secret Gesture and Galileo. She's odds-on to take the King Edward VII Stakes on Tuesday.

Henry Candy-trained four-year-old Kurious won the Group 3 Coral Charge on her last start in July. She is a half-sister to two Group 1-winning sprinters Alpha Delphini and Tangerine Trees and two other runners who achieved three-figure Racing Post Ratings over speed tests. K Curious is bred by Whitsbury Manor Stud's Ed Harper. Harper bought her for 5,200gns when she was two-years- old. He bought Heartache from Coolmore for 1,300,000gn at Tattersalls Breeding-Stock Sale in 2018.

Miss O Connor is a William Haggas-trained mare. She was bred by Kilnamoragh Stud by Roderic O'Connor, a son of Galileo. The mares won three races last year. Now she is training at Royal Ascot. Her rivals include Jubiloso, by Shamardal out of Frankel's half-sister Joyeuse, Magic Lily, daughter of Epsom Classic winners New Approach and Dancing Rain, and Queen Power, 500,000gns Shamardshanka sister to Puissance De Lune.
