Zinedine Zidane was playing for Juventus in the 1997 Champions League final. He was already one of the biggest names in European football. In his debut season with Juventus, he won Serie A and also the Champions league. His performances in that campaign had all the hallmarks of his unique genius. They included two 1-0 wins over Manchester United in Group C and a 4-1 win in semi-finals.

Paul Lambert was better than Zinedine Zidane in the Champions League final. Lambert played well for Dortmund, while Zidsane had to wait until 2002 to lift the trophy. Lars Ricken scored the only goal of the game. Juventus lost the final 3-1. They would lose again the following season against Real Madrid.
