Rivalry debuts daily fantasy sports app for the 2023 NBA season

Rivalry has launched a new free-to-play (F2P) fantasy basketball app called Rivalry Ultimate Fan for the 2023 NBA season.

The app, launched in partnership with Low6, will allow users to open digital card packs containing NBA players.

Users will then make line-ups and compete in weekly contests to win various digital and physical prizes.

The app is being launched initially in South East Asian markets, and if successful, the operator will release the app in Latin America.

The Toronto-headquartered operator will conduct several marketing campaigns to further the app experience.

These include a release of physical booster packs containing custom-illustrated trading cards of NBA players and original IP with QR codes to redeem prizes within the app.

Among the original trading cards is “The Big Baller,” a one-of-one holographic card that will give the holder two tickets to the NBA Finals in Indianapolis.

Rivalry is also linking up with local communities to refurbish outdated and neglected basketball courts as part of the launch.

Steven Salz, Rivalry CEO, commented: “Rivalry Ultimate Fan applies our Gen Z playbook to the world of fantasy sports to engage the next generation of basketball fans and strategically position our brand within a new vertical.

“Expanding further into the traditional sports segment enables us to introduce the unique betting experience we’ve built to a new community of players and realize the operating leverage we see in other parts of the business among a broader audience.

“Low6 has delivered an innovative free-to-play product that fits well into this strategy and builds our presence in an important category.”

Jamie Mitchell, Low6 CEO, added: “Rivalry’s expertise and understanding of millennial and Gen Z customers is very much aligned to Low6’s product development.

“We’re confident our award-winning fantasy game will drive acquisition and engagement for Rivalry among a new audience while maintaining their commitment to innovation and one-of-a-kind experiences in betting.”
