Royal Ascot horse racing tips: After 45-1 WINNER Templegate NAPS Aussie superstar to scorch home in big sprint

TEMPLEGATE takes on the final day of Royal Ascot confident of banging in a few more winners under the summer sun - especially after his treble landed at 45-1 yesterday.

Read on for our man's top tips and read his guide to EVERY race and runner below.

HOME AFFAIRS (4.20 Ascot, nap)

He can land another big sprint prize for the Aussies. We saw stablemate Nature Strip make the red-hot King’s Stand Stakes look like an exercise gallop on Monday and this speedy colt beat her at Flemington when they met in February. He was then drawn on the wrong side when trying to give weight away all round at the Melbourne track. He is already a Group 1 winner and likes to blast off in front so will take a lot of pegging back.

FALCON EIGHT (6.10 Ascot, nb)

He can make up for a slightly unlucky fifth when defending his Chester Cup crown last time. He likes to come off the pace so he was always going to need luck around the Roodee and he was asked to make up too much ground off a moderate pace. That form has been franked by three of the horses that finished ahead of him running crackers here this week.

HONITON (5.35 Ascot, treble)

He makes his handicap debut here for the Gosdens and Frankie Dettori who would love to end the week on a high. He didn’t have a lot to beat at Sandown seven days ago but scored without getting out of first gear and an opening handicap mark of 94 looks fair enough. He likes fast ground and has a lot more to offer.

Alfred Munnings will be a tough nut to crack after winning on debut at Leopardstown but he’s a daft price and we’ll give LEGEND OF XANADU a chance of hitting the frame at least. He took a big step forward when winning at Epsom last time. He wasn’t stopping at the end of 6f there and should get home under William Buick.

3.05

NOBLE TRUTH went from the front when taking a Newmarket Listed contest in great style on comeback in late April. Returning to decent ground was in his favour and he showed lots of staying power for this trip. He looked a nice prospect last season and has clearly trained on and can improve further today.

3.40

HURRICANE LANE hasn’t been seen his excellent third in the Arc where he was beaten less than a length. He was brilliant last season, finishing third in the Derby before winning the Irish Derby, Grand Prix De Paris and St Leger. That’s form nothing else in this field can match. He hasn’t run on ground this firm before but there shouldn’t be an issue on breeding and he’s hard to beat.

IT pays to back one drawn low and one drawn high in huge sprints like this but ASJAD gets the nod overall from stall nine. He is lightly raced and improved a bundle when scoring in a big field at York four weeks ago. He carries a 5lb penalty for that, which is fair, and PJ McDonald has been riding well this week.

5.35

HONITON makes his handicap debut here for the Gosdens and Frankie Dettori who would love to end the week on a high. He didn’t have a lot to beat at Sandown seven days ago but scored without getting out of first gear and an opening handicap mark of 94 looks fair enough. He likes fast ground and has a lot more to offer. Godolphin have a strong hand in this race with William Buick on board Falling Shadow who was another easy maiden winner latest, this time at Newbury last month. He’s been gelded since then but is another who may have been underestimated by the handicapper.

6.10

IF there is some unforecast rain overnight and the ground eases, Trueshan would win this with me riding it. But he’s likely to be a non-runner as he was in Thursday’s Gold Cup as the going will be too lively. In his likely absence, FALCON EIGHT can make up for a slightly unlucky fifth when defending his Chester Cup crown last time. He likes to come off the pace so he was always going to need luck around the Roodee and he was asked to make up too much ground off a moderate pace. That form has been franked by three of the horses that finished ahead of him running crackers here this week.
