Rugby: Black Ferns name first squad of the year
The Black Ferns have named their first squad of the year. They are preparing to host Australia, Canada and USA next month. Seven players are in line to make their Black Fernandez's debut. The team will be led by new captain Ruahei Demant. Olympic gold medalist Ruby Tui is named in the squad for the first time. Several experienced players missed the Pacific Four Series. The series acts as a qualification pathway for WXV, World Rugby's new global competition featuring the top 16 nations in women's rugby. Rugby World Cup 2021 is played in 2022. It's also about developing the Black Finns game.
Luka Connor, Natalie Delamere, Georgia Ponsonby and Matatū are the Black Ferns' hookers.
