Rugby World's Alternative Lions Awards

Rugby World has given out their Alternative Lions awards. The awards are a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the Rugby World tour.

Zinzan Brooke didn't like Taulupe Faletau's game. He didn’t think he was a good enough player to play for the Lions. Falutau played 70 times for New Zealand and made more tackles than anyone else.

Kevin 'Smiley' Barrett is off to breed All Blacks. His sons Beaudie, Jordie and Scott are talented rugby players. Beadie is a 6ft 5in full-back who can score and set up a try. Scott is heavier set and looks like a back-up for Brodie Retallick and Sam Whitelock.

Reiko Ioane won the Rookie of the Tour award at Rugby World's Alternative Lions Awards. Akira Ioana was expected to be the next big thing for New Zealand.

Sean O'Brien's try was awarded the 'Try of the tour' at Rugby World's Alternative Lions Awards. Liam Williams provided the step with 85m to go for Jonathan Davies to score the first try.

The Lions tour has been largely controversy free off-the-field. However, one New Zealander over-indulged in beer and assaulted team manager John Spencer in a restaurant.

Jonathan Davies won the Lions Series in 2013. He played every minute of the Test Series. Davies was an unbeaten Lions tourist. He also won a defensive masterclass in the final Test. The 29-year-old from Bancyfelin finished the season like a Maserati with the Scarlets.

Warren Gatland won the 'I have a cunning plan' award for his team's performance in Whangarei. The New Zealand media had a field day. Six weeks later the Lions have upset the odds and drawn the Series.
