San Marino score their first goal in almost a year against Denmark

San Marino scored their first international goals in 11 months earlier when they faced Denmark in a Euro 2024 qualifier.

The Danes had taken the lead after Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund struck superbly to fire past the San Marino 'keeper.

But instead of floodgates opening, as they often do when San Marino are involved, they managed to stem the tide and resolutely defended until the break.

Then, against all the odds, San Marino found the back of the net. The first time they'd done so since November 17th 2022.

Alessandro Golinucci struck from a corner to send the San Marino fans into raptures.

Sadly for them though, it wasn't to last. Red Bull Leipzig legend Yussuf Poulsen headed the Danes back in front just nine minutes later.

Unfortunately for the world ranked 207th side it finished 2-1 to Denmark. San Marino are still searching for their first competitive draw since November 2020 when they played out a 0-0 stalemate with Gibraltar.

They've never won a competitive match and haven't won at all since beating Liechtenstein in a friendly in 2004.
