San Siro Development Could Be Huge For All Milan Sport
The San Siro has been the home of Inter Milan for almost 80 years. Inter have played at the venue since 1947 in an amicable ground share with rivals AC Milan. The city of Milan has had a right to the stadium since 1935. SanSiro helped stage two World Cups and is the go-to venue for music concerts dating back to 1980. It will host the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The development of the new San Siro stadium will be a huge boost for Milan and the economy. The SanSiro region also hosts premier horse racing at the Hippodrome San siro. It is a short walk from the stadium. The Hippo has lost some of its allure due to the timing of races. However, it still stages poignant races in Italy such as the Oaks d’Italia, Gran Criterium and Gran Premio del Jockey Club.
The development of the new stadium dubbed ‘The Cathedral’ by the developers due in 2027 will attract tourists and football fans. The redevelopment of San Siro complex could also include renovations to the Hippodrome. It might convince the great and good of racing from France, the United Kingdom and Ireland to bring their prized charges back to Milan.
