Caulfield R6 No.2 Vilana

Vilana (2) is a weapon on rain-affected ground, winning 5 from 7 on soft/heavy tracks. If the track is genuinely soft, the Godolphin galloper is going to be very hard to beat fourth-up. He comes back from the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) where he was 3.65L off Magic Time. That reads well enough for this.Rosehill R2 No.3 Celestial Fury

Celestial Fury (3) is by Savabeel out of a Galileo mare, which is reason enough for him being a multiple winner over 2100m. This includes as recently as last start when he led throughout on the Heavy 8 and beat Domingo, who is no slouch. No wonder Mitchell Bell has followed him to town.Tough race to close so going with one at each-way odds in Ranges (6) from the Snowden yard. The veteran gelding made no impression down the straight last start but his first-up effort over this trip at The Valley was solid and he loves soft tracks (16:6-1-3). He'll likely be giving away a fair start from the wide gate but his best form reads well for this.Serene Nic (11) could be going around on the Kensington track with Nash on board on Friday or be saved for Rosehill where Tyler Schiller rides. She is very good on soft ground and when she hasn't run well, there's been an excuse.
