Saturday racing tips at Newbury and Fairyhouse

Fairyhouse, Newbury and Doncaster are hosting great meetings on Saturday with Graded and top handicap races throughout.

There's also tips for Newcastle as Constitution Hill makes his seasonal debut in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle.

  • WillowWarm Hurdle, 1.25: Nusret

Hasn't been seen over hurdles since April's Punchestown Festival, when placing behind Lossiemouth.

That form has worked out well and he's also placed behind Zenta in his previous Grade 1 hurdle.

That's incredibly good form coming into this and should be nice and fresh after running on the flat in three of his last runs.

He will have to carry the most but based on his form he should still have enough to despatch of his rivals.

Media Naranja also has a fair amount of potential after placing behind Irish Point in November but still needs plenty more to compete with Nusret.

However he could be entering the Novice Hurdle instead which looks to be a much better option especially as an each-way play.

She was just under three lengths behind the impressive Under Control in a Grade 3 Mares' Hurdle back in April and that should really translate to a better run at some point based on that form.

She won on her next outing at Ballinrobe before placing third in the Grade 3 Bottlegreen Hurdle at Down Royal on November 10th.

She was a 20/1 shot and still put in a respectable performance behind the 147-rated Irish Point and 136-rated Magical Zoe.

  • Mares' Novices' Hurdle, 11.55: Dysart Enos
  • Coral Racing Club Hurdle, 1.40: Jet Powered 7/1 each-way
  • Intermediate Handicap Hurdle, 2.15: Brentford Hope 10/3
  • Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase, 2.50: Complete Unknown 15/2 each-way

Trained by Fergal O'Brien this is a promising hurdler who at five-years-old made her hurdle debut after going unbeaten in bumpers.

Winning not only a listed mares' contest at Market Rasen in February but also a Grade 2 at Aintree by a comfortable margin.

She was as short as 1/7 favourite on her first hurdle start despite only being seen in bumpers prior and second in a point, which only means there's a lot of promise for her going forward and she confirmed that with an easy win despite jumping quite novicey.

Any improvement here will see her win nicely again and she still stands a good chance if she gets a few wrong, which can often happen this early on in their careers.

Jet Powered seems to be a little underestimated for a horse trained by Nicky Henderson.

Adorning the Mrs J Donnelly colours, like Gaillard Du Mesnil or Shishkin, he has promise considering what was seen in maiden company here in November 2022.

Was a surprise fifth place when 2/7 favourite a month later on New Years' Eve over the same course and distance and hasn't been seen again yet.

He's had a few entries but never been declared and it seems they're waiting for the ideal race and conditions to get him back to winning ways.

Jet Powered was impressive on his two career wins and there's got to be more to come with progression as a six-year-old for such a top yard.

This gelding was a big winner in the tips here in November as the 11/4 joint favourite, but won as though he was an odds-on shot, winning by 16 lengths ahead of ten other rivals.

It was an easier task and this is a much tougher one, especially against the likes of Under Control who already sets a dangerous standard based on earlier tips.

But it does seem that there's more to come from this Harry Derham-trained horse who has clearly got a lot of potential this season.

Winning in such a way against his rivals last time out upped him 11lb but that still won't be enough to stop him.

Placed behind Gerri Colombe over 3m1f at Aintree in April and even came a decent second at Warwick's Grade 2 in January.

Had a wind op in the summer and returned on his seasonal debut to beat Might I, despite carrying close to a stone more.

He's back up in trip now and could even improve more with a wind op likely helping his ability over this tougher stamina test.

Even each-way he has a great chance of placing in the top three but he's of huge value at this price, running for the incredibly in-form trainer Paul Nicholls and jockey Harry Cobden.

They do well at Newbury too, and are operating just better than 30% each in the last two weeks.
