Scott Coolbaugh and Scott Pleis out as the Tigers purge continues

Scott Pleis has been the Detroit Tigers' amateur scouting director since 2010. Plei's record in the amateur draft was terrible. He didn't produce any major league players. His best work was in drafting pitchers. The team still has good arms in its system. They also have good prospects in their system, like Jackson Jobe, Wilmer Flores, Ty Madden, and Dylan Smith. Harris will replace Pleus with someone with more analytical approach. It will focus on improving the organization's process for projecting amateur hitters in pro ball. For example, Colt Keith, Cristian Santana, Izaac Pacheco, Dillon Dingler, or Parker Meadows.
