Shakib Al Hasan has terminated his contract with Betwinner news and removed all posts from his social media pages regarding the deal. The Bangladesh Cricket Board had asked him to choose between the national team and Betwinning news. The announcement of the Asia Cup squad has been delayed for a day pending Shakib's decision. He was expected to take over the Bangladesh Twenty20 side as captain for the upcoming Asia cup in the UAE and lead the side to the next Twenty 20 World Cup in Australia in October and November. ICC banned him for two years in 2019 after he failed to record corrupt approaches.
