Bob Sievier bought Sceptre, Persimmon, Duke of Westminster and Lavengro at the 1901 sale. He had a very successful summer in 1901. Sivier was in trouble at end of the year because he had no money and no trainer. Charles Morton was hired as a trainer for Jack Joel. He was fired because of his rivalry with Joel and his newspaper The Winning Post. The new trainer was able to take over Sviier's racing operations. Jack Joel was unhappy with that. It was decided to sell the horses. John Porter and Parker bought them.
