South Carolina vs. Notre Dame Analysis & Pick ATS 12/30/22

Notre Dame and South Carolina are playing in the Gator Bowl on December 30th. The last time the teams met was back in 1984. Notre Dame holds a 3-1 advantage.

Shane Beamer took over in Columbia after the 2020 season. South Carolina has won seven games in a row and is 6-17 this season, but they haven't made the playoffs in back-to-back years for the first time in over a decade.

Spencer Rattler transferred from Oklahoma to South Carolina. He had struggled with his passing stats before the season, but he has improved since October. The wide receiver position for South Korea hasn't been hit with injuries. Tight end is a position that is in need of repair.

Jaheim Bell and Austin Stogner left via the transfer portal and Traevon Kenion retired from football. The Gamecocks are going to rely heavily on their wide receiving trio of Antwane Wells Jr, Jalen Brooks, and Josh Vann. Wells has been the clear best of the bunch and has led the team in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. Venn has caught all three of his touchdowns in the last two games.

MarShawn Lloyd and Jaheim Bell left the team and are no longer on the running back's team. Juju McDowell is the third-leading rusher on South Carolina's roster. Christian Beal-Smith is only runningback with more than six carries on season. He is expected to play against a depleted Irish defense line. Isaiah Foskey is skipping the game to prepare for the NFL Draft.

Notre Dame will be without their top offensive player against South Carolina due to draft prep. Tight end Michael Mayer will miss the Gator Bowl. Quarterback Drew Pyne has also quit the team unexpectedly.

Drew Pyne quit his position at Notre Dame and entered the transfer portal. South Carolina and Notre Notre are playing each other on December 30th. The passing offense ranked 106th in the country. Pyke completed less than 53% of his passes in five of their last seven games.

Tyler Buchner will start for South Carolina against Notre Dame. Steve Angeli will be the backup if Bucher is injured or needs to be replaced. South Carolinians are a favorite to win the game.

The effectiveness of the Irish wide receivers will be critical in the Gator Bowl. Lorenzo Styles is the team leader in receptions and yards, but he has just one touchdown catch all season. Jayden Thomas has only three receptions in a game all year, while Brandon Lenzy has 20 receptions on the season, though he's had a scoring run recently. South Carolina cornerback Cam Smith is skipping the game to prepare for the NFL Draft.

The Irish rushing attack ranked 42nd in the country. Audric Estime has 11 of the teams’ 22 rushing touchdowns. Logan Diggs has cleared the century mark in yards in three of their last six games.

South Carolina and Notre Dame are playing in the Gator Bowl. South Carolina has performed well as an underdog this season. Notre Notre lost to a ranked opponent for the second time this year.
